The controversy ended Tuesday morning when Harvey Weinstein's retrial in the New York metropolis began.
After asserting protection, Weinstein's legal professional Arthur Aidala began to make a closing argument to the jury.
Aidala reiterates the Protector’s argument that the accuser lied and that they reached a consensus on each of their sexual intercourse with Weinstein. He also urged the jury to dismiss the case if they have any questions about the claims indicted or placed in a “state of uncertainty.”
“It has nothing to do with innocence,” Adara mentioned. “That’s about: Have they shown past cases?”
He later added: “These are people they need to imagine – they are girls with damaged targets.”
Weinstein is charged with two counts of committing “felony sexual conduct” within the first diploma, while the three girls are charged with third-degree rape: former TV manufacturing assistant Miriam Haley, former Mannequin Kaja Sokola and former aspiring actor Jessica Mann. Weinstein has assumed no responsibility for all counts.
Aidala describes Weinstein's relationship with Haley, Sokola and Mann as a “deal.”
Aidala told Weinstein: “He was someone who was abused here.
He later claimed that the accusers needed to “lower the road” and “take shortcuts” and believed that Weinstein was their approach. But once they failed to succeed in their leisure business, Aidala mentioned, “They were angry. They were angry at what they were today.”
Many of the ending arguments of protection focus on Aidala's detailed account of each plaintiff's testimony during the weekly trial, who throughout the process highlights their ongoing interaction with Weinstein after alleged attacks and highlights the entire cross-check.
On one level, Aidala mentioned the testimony of cardiac expert Ewa Sokola, the sister of Accuser Kaja. He argued that she eventually became a protective witness after testifying and despite Kaja's nervousness after being accused of attack in 2006, she never revealed that something had happened.
“She is supporting our concept of case,” Aidala mentioned Ewa Sokola. “With her sister, a lot of people are huge.”
At the end of protection, Aidala claims that the three girls accused Weinstein of sexual assault for fame and monetary compensation.
He concluded: “If this guy wasn't Harvey Weinstein, would we even be here?”
Subsequently, Nicole Blumberg, a regional law major, contacted the jury to present the prosecution's summary.
Blumberg described Weinstein’s energy and influence in Hollywood during the alleged attack, calling him “the Titan in the leisure business.” She mentioned that he was like the accuser, who used this influence to be “physical and emotional overwhelming”, and they all had a desire to build a career in leisure.
“He has no curiosity about careers,” Brenberg said. “He has curiosity about our bodies.”
She continued: “He doesn't care what they need. He cares about what he needs.”
Blumberg's announcement to Aidala, Weinstein was “a person who was abused here”, replied: “In this case, protection is not any victim – in any other case it is recommended.”
The prosecutor's closing debate is scheduled to be renewed Wednesday morning.
The frustrating film tycoon was convicted of sexual assault and rape in a 2020 felony trial and sentenced to 23 years in prison in New York. Still, in April 2024, Weinstein's conviction was overturned because a New York court appeal case dominated the trial with a mistake in the absence of permission along with the testimony of three additional accusers. These testimonies are considered biased because they do not give relevant opinions on the costs he faces.
Weinstein was also sentenced to rape in Los Angeles in 2022 and sentenced to another 16 years in prison.
