Miss International Queen USA 2025, Monterstepping into her power and entering the global stage.
In September this year, the former Miss America Participants and full-time performers will travel abroad for the first time to represent the United States in the famous Miss International Queen Beauty pageant in Pattaya, Thailand.
As the world's largest and most respected trans women competition, Miss International offers Midori an opportunity to showcase not only her grace and talent, but also a message of her joy, transformation and popularity.
With a dream team of collaborators including beauty pageant legend Marco Shantelleand focusing on emotional power and authenticity, Midori is determined to bring all of her own self into the competition and inspire others to do the same.
Well, let's start with the basics, like how it feels like to represent the United States on the international stage for the first time?
Oh my goodness, it's perfect. This feeling is unparalleled with anything in this world, and the voice of America is a dream come true, and who can do this better than Miss International Queen?
You have been in the general election before, but what makes Miss International herself unique?
Well, I was a former Miss Washington player. I was one of the first black trans women to compete in any of the world and it was amazing to open that door. I think I got a lot of training through the Miss America system and I think the Queen of International certainly reflects everything Miss America and Miss America and Miss Universe do. It's just a little different, and I've found that the joy of learning a new culture and learning a new exercise that's different from you is certainly part of my favorite experience.
Can you describe the moment you find yourself winning the championship?
On the stage, let's see. We went from the top 12 to the top three, and in the last moment our top three dropped to the top three and they were crowned the gallon. This is really an adrenaline surge. Over the years, I felt that it was nothing more than all my hard work and performance to get to where I am today and I was lucky to be honest and humble, even here now.

You have said that it is not just a competition, it is about the joy and transformation of trans. What does this mean for you now?
I think currently in the US political atmosphere today, I think trans joy and trans life are being regulated, which is certainly transcending trans appearance restrictions. What can we succeed in looking like? What will life in our happiness look like?
I think it's coming out now, laughing and freedom because of the lack of better words, like kissing it. There is nothing you can do or say that I feel less than I am. I am alone. I love, I live, I guide. I am a daughter, I am a mother, I am a friend. I'm a sister and I think trans identities have so much complexity that we have representatives smiling in the face of adversity and say we won't go anywhere. We've been here before. We'll be here after that – for me, that's the whole purpose of the exercise.
Your beauty pageant preparations sound intense. What was the most exciting or unexpected part of the process so far?
Honestly, the workload of planning packaging. When I participated in the title I now have, I did almost everything myself. No matter what I didn’t do, I have a team that can help me, such as hard clothes or help with choreography. Going to Thailand now, like everything I do for the US, I find that my team has grown and working with the team is certainly new to me. I'm not used to it. I am used to being a lonely wolf, but I find the journey so relaxed that I don't have to worry about everything at once. We have different people doing different things in different places and when we all get together and we are all very loving and respectful, it’s just a beautiful fusion to be honest.

You are working with an international queen entrant like Shantelle D'Marco, what does this collaboration bring to your preparation?
My tia! OK, I love Shantelle D'Marco. She is my creative designer and wardrobe designer, so you will see that everything I wear in Thailand is loved by me and definitely represents all the beauty in my inner black culture.
Just know all the current fashion trends, like I really don't want to wait for everyone to see what I have in the store. It would be so perfect that she did a great job of making me look the best. Honestly, my earrings, my jewelry and my clothes are all designed by Chantel Demarco, so please enter.
Now speaking of fashion, it plays an important role in beauty pageants. What can you tell us about your wardrobe and how it reflects your identity?
I think the biggest thing I want to show is black excellence. I want to showcase the standards of elegance, beauty and balance that Thailand has never seen since then

Now, besides physical preparation, you emphasize emotional preparation and self-love. How to stay centered under pressure?
Honestly, I think it's just acknowledging what's going on. It is absolutely important to acknowledge that all the pressure is absolutely important, but most importantly, to make sure my cup is always full. I can't scale more than I do. I have to create new ways to get better and successful in beauty pageants, but how do I make myself happy? Am I feeding myself? Am I taking care of myself? Have I rested? Do I want to do what I want and enjoy? These are things that really matter to build a level of level so I will be successful in that, but I also take care of myself and I want to make sure my needs are met, and for me, it is so important that I can’t emphasize the whole world. In any case, I should have adopted the same principle.
This will be your first trip overseas. Are you most looking forward to visiting Thailand?
OK, of course, what I want to talk about is food! Apart from all the delicacies you have in Thailand, it is definitely a rich culture. Seeing a world and a culture where trans women are not only respected, but respected, I think witnessing is a glorious experience. Especially, you know, from the United States, we don't. The average American might think that the average trans person’s way is different than that in Thailand or anywhere else at sea. So I can't wait to see what it would be like to me. It's just a shock to the culture. I think walking into a new environment with an open mind is the best thing you can do. Maybe there are endless possibilities for me.

In your own words, what does it mean to be a visible trans woman on a global platform at this moment?
I think that means I have a chance to use my voice to elevate people who aren’t particularly heard or seen. I think sometimes it has nothing to do with what the information is. Sometimes it's about who the messenger is, and I think it's very important to acknowledge that, and on this Miss International platform, I can use it to spread messages of trans, equality and self-love, which I think is very important.
Millions of matches around the world will see matches. What news do you most want to leave with your audience?
I hope my audience knows it’s OK to lead with a smile. It is impossible to be never possible. No matter what they tell you, you can't do it. You can do it, and I can prove it in all the struggles in my life. I still did it here and I don't look like something I've been through, and I think it's really important that other people can understand this and hope for some blessings, you know?

Now, besides the Crown, what impact do you want to have on your platform as Miss International?
The biggest impact is that I want all young black trans women and even trans men, honestly, all LGBT knows that you can achieve anything, and there is no limit to us. There is nothing we can do. I think for me I can still do this without all sponsorship or all support, but I still do it. My idea is my goal. I am true to my purpose and now I am here to talk to you!
