Joanna Calo is one of many writers commemorated during the signature celebrations throughout the occasion in the 2025 Nantucket Film Competition, a tribute to the screenwriter hosted by Michael Ian Black.
Calo is a writer for The Bear and Thunderbolts*, and has won the Excellent TV Writing Award from Bear star Lionel Boyce; “Andor” creator Tony Gilroy won the visionary storytelling award from author/director Scott Frank; and award-winning documentary director Alex Gibney received the special achievement in the documentary Record Honors. Calo, whose awards are choosetwice-time Oscar-nominated Frank, yelled during her speech.
“It's very surreal,” she mentioned after accepting Boyce's award. “I once told Scott that I would notice him once I entered the teacher, and he impressed me that I came back and looked for a job, and that was once what I turned around.
She continued to thank the contest and the audience for “love the movie and celebrate us.”
“We want you. I used to work on these festivals,” Carlo shared. “I suggest I am very, very grateful. Some people know I'm writing something now, now I'm just obsessed with the historical past of this place and there are a lot of charming ladies from this place and I'm so happy to be able to go and learn more.”

Throughout the speech, Boyce revealed that throughout the game, he met her children at the main time.
He joked, “Since we've been in a while, it's got people's attention and he or he will never introduce me to some reason for them.” “But once I met her youngest son, it was a problem for me. First, we've been involved for 4 years and it's just the time of the cycle. I keep the time in mind. Once we've been a pilot, she has him. Knowing the way she does that.
While writing and government production on “The Bear”, Carlo also served as the author of “Bojack Horseman”, “Girlboss”, “Undone”, “Hacks” and “Beef”.
